"Entertainment Tonight" caught up with the "30 Rock" star at the New York City premiere of her new movie "Admission" on Tuesday night, where she expressed her confusion regarding Swift's hurt feelings.
"If anyone was going to get mad I thought it would be James Cameron," said Fey, in reference to the jab that it must have been "torture" for "Zero Dark Thirty" director Kathryn Bigelow to have been married to Cameron for three years. As for Swift's response, "I did not see that one coming," Fey added. "It was a joke, it was meant to be lighthearted."
Poehler felt a little worse about upsetting the 23-year-old singer. "Aw, I feel bad if she was upset,” the "Parks and Recreations" star told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. “I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff. "
In case you forgot the jokes in question, Fey quipped at the Globes that Swift should “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son,” and that the singer could use “some 'me time' to learn about herself." Poehler agreed, telling Swift to "go for it."
