He is the ultimate squeaky clean pop star and a record company’s
dream – adored by screaming teenage girls while raking in millions with
sell-out tours.
But yesterday Justin Bieber was
left grovelling to his furious followers when he took to the stage
nearly two hours late.
Tardy Bieber
kept fans waiting at London’s O2 on Monday, with many having to
leave without seeing their idol because it was a school night.
Outraged parents told how they had called ahead to the venue and were
told Bieber would be on stage at 8.30pm and finished at 10.15pm.
But the 5ft 6ins singer did not grace the stage until 10.10pm – when
scores of disgruntled fans had already left.
Even his Beliebers – the most loyal of supporters – criticised the
singer.
The star yesterday took to Twitter and apologised, blaming the delay
on “technical issues” and claiming his start time was later than people
were first told.
He said: “Last night I was scheduled to go on stage at 9.35 not 8.30
but because of some technical issues I got on at 10.10. So I was 40 mins
late to stage.
“There is no excuse for that and I apologize for anyone we upset.
However it was great show.”
But yesterday, Bieber’s bizarre antics continued when he was spotted
by motorists on the Highway in Wapping, East London, “hopping” between
cars.
One bemused driver said: “He was acting really peculiarly,
car-hopping around a procession of black Bentleys, surrounded by
motorbikes, all sporting Canadian flags while traffic was at a
standstill. It was all a bit odd.”
Despite his hijinks, Bieber still made it to the O2 on time last
night, appearing on stage at 9pm but making no mention of the previous
night’s fiasco.
These events are just the latest incidents in the life of the
multi-millionaire, man-child star.
But while his erratic behaviour has been dismissed until now as
teenage antics – he is “only” 19 – insiders fear he is going off the
rails, with potentially dire consequences.
One music executive said yesterday: “There have been mutterings
behind closed doors that Justin’s attitude needs to be seriously
addressed.
“He is one of the planet’s biggest stars and has been surrounded by
‘yes’ men for most of his teenage life.
"As a result, he seems to feel he can go around unchecked without
fear of the consequences.
"He is still a massive earner for the company but this doesn’t mean
he can treat people with disregard.”

The darling of pop accounts for over 3% of all Twitter traffic and
has amassed 35 million followers, not to mention an estimated £45million
in the bank.
He also has a fleet of sports cars at his disposal, wears only
designer watches and jewellery and last year bought a £7million mansion
in Los Angeles.
It is believed he has access to his fortune rather than others
controlling a trust fund, so it is little wonder fame has gone to
Beiber’s head as well as his wallet.
It is clear he is used to having his own way but there are fears his
behaviour is beginning to harm Brand Biebs.
Indeed, Bieber seems to be undergoing something of a Britney
Spears-esque personality transplant.
Much like the American pop princess, Bieber was discovered aged 14
while still at school.
And just as Britney went off the rails at the height of her fame,
over the past year Bieber has been involved in a spate of unsavoury
episodes. Party: Justin Bieber celebrates his 19th birthday in London
on Friday
Splash
Days ago he was stomping through the streets of London, bleary-eyed
and shirtless, with his boxers on display looking as if he was carrying
the weight of the world on his tattooed shoulders.
This was Bieber “celebrating” his 19th birthday, minutes after being
thrown out of nightclub Cirque Du Soir.
The party was cut short after just five minutes when staff
inside the club smelt marijuana on his entourage.
This prompted a swift, and embarrassingly Kevin The Teenager reaction
from Bieber in the form of a tweet where he huffed: “Worst birthday
ever.”
Worryingly, this is not his first association with the Class B drug.
On New Year’s Eve, US website TMZ showed a photograph of him
apparently smoking from a joint – again a claim denied by Bieber’s team.
A source said: “Although Justin has started using the gym and
watching what he eats, there are some concerns over other aspects of his
lifestyle.
“It is imperative he maintains his wholesome image if he is to appeal
to his teenage fanbase.
"After all, they were the ones who got
him to where he is today.
“Justin’s been partying quite a bit of late and there are concerns he
has been burning the candle at both ends.” Gas who? Justin Bieber shopping in London on February 25

Bieber’s “wacky” behaviour, meanwhile, took a surreal twist last
month when he was photographed shopping in London... wearing a gas mask.
Last June he shouted at fans at Toronto airport, accusing them of
being “in his face” as he waited for then girlfriend Selena Gomez to
arrive.
Four months earlier he allegedly swore and gave the middle finger to a
fan at Disneyland.
And more controversy was to follow during filming for a guest
appearance in US crime drama CSI.
His co-star Marg Helgenberger claimed the youngster was a nightmare
behind the scenes, revealing: “He was kind of a brat.
"He locked one of the producers in a closet and put his fist through a
cake on the actors’ table.”
Last week he was branded a “brat”, yet again, after stomping out of a
restaurant after a family refused to move so his minders could sit
down.
One of those closest to Bieber of course, is his mother Patricia
“Pattie” Mallette.
Pattie was just 17 years old when she got pregnant with Justin and
was instrumental in helping her son secure his first ever record deal.
The Canadian singer is also close to his father, Jeremy, who
separated from Pattie when he was two.
The music insider added: “Justin’s a good kid at heart.
“He just needs to remember where he came from and make sure that he
is surrounded by people with his best interests at heart.”
