Napoli manager Rafael Benitez says he is proud of his team's
progress as they prepare to face former boss Walter Mazzarri and his
Inter Milan side in a top-four Serie A clash.
Third-placed Napoli are four points clear of Inter, who are a place below them in fourth ahead of Sunday's match.
Mazzarri, 52, led them to the Champions League before joining Inter in May.
"To be so high up the Serie A standings with a new team is an achievement," said his replacement Benitez.
The ex-Chelsea and Liverpool boss is still rebuilding Napoli after a summer of change at the Stadio San Paolo.
The Spaniard brought Real Madrid trio Raul Albiol, Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain to southern Italy, while Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani left for French champions Paris St-Germain in a £55m deal.
Napoli won nine of their opening 11 matches but have slipped behind frontrunners Juventus and Roma after taking just four points from their last four matches.
Defending champions Juve are top of the table after 15 games, with second-placed Roma three points behind.
In Europe, Napoli were eliminated at the group stage of their Champions League campaign.
"With Juventus and Roma doing so well, our results don't seem as impressive, but the truth is we've done very well," said Benitez.
"Our Champions League campaign has been very good and to be so high up in the Serie A standings with a new team is an achievement.
"I think the process means bringing in young players who can be here for many years and be part of the long-term project."
