A Lively Hope…
1
Peter 1:3-5 (KJV): Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again
unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to
an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away,
reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through
faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:9 (KJV): Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1
Peter 1:18-19 (KJV): Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed
with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of
Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1
Peter 1:21 (KJV): Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up
from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in
God.
1
Peter 2:24 (KJV): Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on
the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye were healed.
1
Peter 3:18 (KJV): For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the
just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death
in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1
Peter 4:12-13 (KJV): Beloved, think it not strange concerning the
fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened
unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s
sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also
with exceeding joy.
1
Peter 5:6-7 (KJV): Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand
of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon
him; for he careth for you.
1
Peter 5:10 (KJV): But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto
his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while,
make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
How can we be witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus Christ when we were not physically there to see the event?
1. We see the proof of Christianity through historically confirmable facts.
Ancient Jewish author Flavius Josephus (37 A.D. – circa 100 A.D.), who was not a Christian, wrote a long history in his writing “Antiquites of the Jews” but wrote very little about Jesus. What Josephus did write was significant…
Now,
there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call
him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men
as receive the truth with pleasure. He was the Christ. And when Pilate,
at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to
the cross, those who loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he
appeared to them alive again at the third day, as the divine prophets
had foretold these and 10,000 other wonderful things concerning him. And
the tribe of Christians, so named from him, is not extinct at this day.
– Antiquities 18.63-64 (Greek)
– Antiquities 18.63-64 (Greek)
This is the Holy Bible’s testimony…
1
Corinthians 15:3-8 (KJV): For I delivered unto you first of all that
which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to
the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third
day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then
of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at
once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are
fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the
apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of
due time.
It is a fact of history, Jesus Christ has risen from the dead.
Thus, the proof of what Jesus said about us being raised from the dead
through faith in Him was shown by what He did. He will also catch away
the living believers unto Him one day soon as well.
John
11:25 (KJV): Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:
he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Philippians
3:21 (KJV): Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned
like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able
even to subdue all things unto himself.
2. We also see the evidence of Christ’s resurrection through the new nature He imparts to us which gives us the will and ability to do what God wants.
Colossians
2:12-13 (KJV): Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen
with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him
from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision
of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you
all trespasses;
Philippians 2:13 (KJV): For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
3. Further, we testify of the blessings, miracles, and signs and wonders in His Name which He does for us and through us in our lives and those around us.
This we experience through the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Romans
8:34b-37 (KJV): It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen
again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh
intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness,
or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all
the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all
these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Believe in the risen Lord Jesus Christ and testify of His resurrection. He is risen indeed!
