“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

Hebrews 9:28 – King James Bible (AV 1611)

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
Here the translators of the King James Bible properly translate the word “without” sin.  This is a very important translation because when Jesus comes back in His Glory, at the Second Advent,
as defined by the context of this verse (notice the phrase “shall he appear the second time”, that’s the Second Advent), He will be without sin.  Many “scholars” point out that He was without sin the first time He came, and while that’s true, there are several things that happened at the First Advent of Jesus Christ.
 1.  He became sin for us.  2 Corinthians 5:21 says, For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.  Jesus literally became sin for us, but when He returns in His Glory at the Second Advent He will not be our sin anymore.  Here is another verse that confirms this.  1 Peter 2:24 says, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.  Jesus did bare our sins in HIS OWN BODY, but He will not have our sins on Him anymore at the Second Advent.
 2.  Jesus became a curse for us, look at Galatians 3:13, it says, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:  When Jesus comes back at the Second Advent, He will not be a curse, He will be in His Glory and He’ll be without sin.
 3.  Jesus took away sin and carried our sin away.  John 1:29 says,The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  In this text, John the Baptist was announcing Jesus, the Lamb of God.  He took away our sin in His First Advent, He’ll be “without sin” at His Second Advent.
You see, it is very important to understand this.  Jesus, at the end of His First Advent, became sin, took on our sins, carried our sins away, and became a curse for us.  If He still had our sins on Him, He could not have gone up into Heaven.  He would not be able to stand before a totally Holy God the Father.  The ONLY way Jesus could get rid of these sins, would be to pay the price for our sins.  He did that by going to Hell in our stead.  Matthew 12:40 says, For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.  Once Jesus paid the price, He no longer had sin on Him, He then ascended into Heaven and when He comes back, it will be WITHOUT SIN.  This verse was properly translated in the King James Bible AV 1611.
 New King James Bible

so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.”
Now here we have a deviation with the New King James Bible.  The New King James Bible is thought of as being the same as the King James Bible AV 1611, but with updated language.  Some have said that the New King James Bible is a transliteration of the King James Bible AV 1611, but it is not.  It does NOT use the same manuscripts of the King James Bible AV 1611 and here is an example of where it does NOT say the same thing.  The King James Bible of 1611 says that Jesus was without sin.  That means that He was NOT HAVING any sin, or that He was Lacking sin.  That He was not accompanied by sin and that there was no sin happening.  The New King James truly waters that down by stating that Jesus was “not together” with sin.  That He moving away from sin after being together with it.  That He was now separated from sin.  I’m sorry if you like the New King James Bible but it is wrong.  Below are the definitions of the words.  It is not the same, it is different.  Jesus is not separated after once being together with sin, He is not even separated from sin.  He is WITHOUT sin.
The word “without” literally means 1.  Not having, 2. Lacking, 3. not accompanied by, 4. not happening.  The word “apart” is a grammatical word meaning separated in space and time.  It literally means, 1. not together, 2. into pieces, 3. moving away after being together, 4. removed from consideration, 5. into difficulty, 6. of separate kind, 7 separated.
 New Living Translation

so also Christ died only once as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again but not to deal with our sins again. This time he will bring salvation to all those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
I really don’t want to seem rude, but is this a joke?  This isn’t even close.  Jesus comes back at His Second Advent without sin and the Translators of the New Living Translation wants to change that to “but not to deal with our sins again”.  I cannot leave this verse without also pointing out that these translators also mess up the entire point of salvation.  Jesus is NOT going to return the second time to bring “salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.”  Jesus always offers salvation based on His plan, not man’s plan.  Salvation is not to those who “eagerly await Him”.  Salvation is given to those who follow His instructions about salvation.  In the Church Age, it is by simple faith and the acceptance of His free gift.  If you are reading this and you do not know for sure that you are going to go to heaven when you die, You can know it.  1 John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.  You can KNOW that you have eternal life.  If you don’t know, go to our website at www.brokenheartbaptistchurch.com and look under the tab “God’s Plan of Salvation”.  It will show you Bible verses telling you how to be saved.  Never take a man’s word for it, read the Bible.  The New Living Translation is not even close and I cannot help but recommend that IF you are using this Bible, there has certainly been enough information provided in this series of the Attack On God’s Word, that IF you are being honest, you should conclude that this bible should be discarded.  I will only recommend the King James Bible AV 1611.

 New International Version

so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
The New International Version misses the boat too.  There is a big difference between “not to bear sin” and “without sin”.  My Lord is returning at the Second Advent in His Glory.  This is when He comes back with a name written on His thigh, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  It’s NOT that He is “not to bear our sins”, it’s that He is sinless.  Stick to the good stuff.  Jesus will be without sin, just like the true Word of God says.
 English Standard Version

so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
“Not to deal with sin”????  Is this stating that Jesus was, in times past, a “dealer in sin”?  I guess we could say He will not be dealing in sin because He will be WITHOUT sin.  I truly do not understand how Christians in the day in age can look at these differences and still continue to hold on to these Bible perversions from Roman and Egyptian manuscripts.  If you have been following this series and reading, week-by-week the new postings and are still unconvinced, maybe this would be a good time to go back to the earlier articles (parts 1 through 7 maybe) and do some review.
 New American Standard Version

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.
So I guess if we follow the teachings of the New American Standard Version, we would conclude that Jesus will not be talking about sin anymore.  He may have sin, He may still be sin, but He will not make any reference to it.  Come people, you have to be smarter than this.

 Revised Standard Version
so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
We already talked about “dealing with sin” under the English Standard Version, please refer back to it.
 American Standard Version

so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.
We already talked about the differences between WITHOUT sin and APART from sin when we looked at the New King James Version.  Please refer back to that version if you want to review.
 SUMMARY
Listen, I know that some of you think I’m too harsh or that I’m too direct and I apologize up front because my intent is not to offend anybody.  If you are offended, I would prayerfully ask is it because you don’t want to give up a Bible version that is proving to be watered down and lacking truth.  The time is short, I think we all agree on this point.  Satan started his attack on the Bible in Genesis Chapter 3 and he has been attacking it constantly ever since.  Many good men and women have lost effectiveness by relying on 80% Bibles.  Those are Bibles that have 80% of what God meant to say.  You may be thinking that you don’t know Hebrew or Greek – I would reply that you don’t have to.  God preserved His Word, just like He said He would, and He preserved it in the English language.  Go back through some of these verses and prayerfully ask God to show you the truth.  Use God’s leading and look at the content of these differences.  Which version is making a stronger case for God?  Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth.  Do not miss the truth because you do not like my style.  I’ll admit that there are probably thousands that have far better writing skills than I have, far better attitudes, and a far better pedigree, but what I do have is a LOVE for GOD’s WORD and in this day in age we need a 100% Bible.  There is a 100% Bible available.  It is right at your finger tips.
