Yaya Toure has welcomed Manchester City's £28million capture of Wilfried Bony.
Toure,
currently away with Bony on African Cup of Nations duty with Ivory
Coast, hailed his international team-mate as a "great player".
Bony
is expected to complete his move from Swansea to City this week after
the two clubs agreed a fee and he underwent a medical in Abu Dhabi,
where Ivory Coast are preparing.
Toure said: “Manchester City is a club that still needs major players like Sergio Aguero and [Wilfried] Bony.
More Football League news, and League One high fliers Swindon Town have confirmed a couple of departures from the County Ground.
They have cancelled the contract of midfielder Ryan Harley, who has since made his loan switch to Exeter City a permanent move.
Harley made 25 appearances for Swindon last season, before moving to the Grecians on a temporary basis.
Defender Curtis Da Costa's short-term contract with the Robins has expired, and he will also leave the club.

Matija Nastasic has been freed from his Manchester City nightmare with a loan move to Schalke.
The
German side have paid City a loan fee of £1.5million to take the
21-year-old defender, with a view to a permanent £10m switch in the
summer.
Schalke have also agreed to pay the £50,000-a-week wages
of Nastasic, who fell out of favour when Manuel Pellegrini took over at
City.
Nastasic's last game for City was a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal
in the Community Shield in August and he made just 11 Premier League
starts last season.

Millwall have announced the signing of Reading right-back Shaun Cummings on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The
25-year-old Chelsea trainee joined the Royals in 2009, but is on the
move to the Capital to try and help Ian Holloway's side remain in the
Championship.
He made nine Premier League appearances for Reading during their 2013-14 campaign, which ultimately ended in relegation.
Millwall currently sit in 22nd position in the Championship, two points adrift of safety.

Crystal Palace loanee Kevin Doyle will return to Wolves at the end of his current spell at Selhurst Park.
The
agreement terminates on January 19, and the Irishman will head back to
the West Midlands, despite having fallen out of favour with the
Championship playoff-chasers.
“I am more than happy to play if
selected but I haven’t been in the manager’s plans, so I’m not sure what
will happen,” Doyle said. “I haven’t spoken to anybody at the club
about it and all I know is the date I have to report back.”
Doyle scored his first Eagles goal in their FA Cup victory over non-league outfit Dover Athletic.

Arsenal target Tyrone Mings isn't going anywhere in January, according to current boss Mick McCarthy.
The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Ipswich, as they have launched an assault on promotion to the Premier League.
Arsene
Wenger is known to be an admirer, but no nonsense Yorkshireman McCarthy
has insisted they won't pay the money required to force a move to the
Emirates.
Speaking ahead of their FA Cup third round replay with
Southampton, McCarthy said: “They haven’t got enough money, well they
might do, but they’re not going to be prepared to pay it.
"He’s
not going anywhere, you might as well hear it from me. He’s a really
good player but he’s not going anywhere. Why would he not want to try
and get promoted with us?"

Crystal Palace are poised to seal the signing of Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal.
The centre-forward was keen for a Ligue 1 move and had everything agreed with Bordeaux.

Juventus have no plans to sell Paul Pogba, amid interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks.
The
young French midfielder left United for Serie A but has since become a
hit for his dominant performances and spectacular goals.
Juve general director Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Italia: “What was a promising player has become a reality.
"Every
European club is watching him and have been in contact with us. We,
however, want to have a strong team made up of champions.
"We have an important player in Pogba and we don't have a need to sell him."

Sam Allardyce is still confident of keeping Winston Reid at West Ham, despite constant transfer links with Arsenal.
The
defender is out of contract at the end of the season, but Allardyce
hopes that by having a strong end to the season, the Hammers might be
able to convince him to sign on the dotted line once again.
Allardyce
said: “There’s no choice for me, he stays - that’s it. If somebody
makes a big offer then obviously the chairman decides, but for me he’s
staying.
“And I think that what we have done this season, and
hopefully (we will) finish off the season strongly, might persuade him
to sign for us."

There could yet be another loan outgoing from Manchester City, as Edin Dzeko could be shock capture for Stoke City.
The
Potters are reportedly looking to pounce on the imminent signing of
Wilfried Bony at City, which would see the Bosnian's playing chances at
the Etihad limited, according to the Stoke Sentinel.
Stoke are in
the market for more attacking depth after Oussama Assaidi's departure
back to Liverpool, where he will likely leave for Al-Ahli.

It's official, Matija Nastasic has left Manchester City and signed for Bundesliga side Schalke.
The
Serbian defender has signed for the German club on loan until the end
of the current season, but Schalke have the option to buy him in June.
Nastasic
was a Premier League winner with City, but has not featured in Manuel
Pellegrini's plans this season, failing to make a single appearance in
the league.
As it stands, the 21-year-old remains on his City contract, which runs until 2017.

Roberto Martinez has also revealed that Sampdoria have not made an approach for Samuel Eto'o, amid talk of a transfer this winter.
The
Italian club were reportedly interested in talking the veteran striker,
but the Everton boss says his striker is continuing to work hard at
Goodison Park.
"I know there has been a lot of speculation, but
we haven’t been contacted, there have been no conversations about that
issue," said Martinez.
"At the moment Samuel is working very
well, he is always a very strong influence in the day-to-day work and
there is nothing to say really."

Robbie Savage has slammed Manchester United's defence and told them that they will not win a Premier League title.
Speaking
after the 1-0 loss to Southampton, he believes that United need to sign
TWO world class defenders if they stand any chance of winning the
league or even qualify for the Champions League.
He told BBC 5Live
yesterday: "They have had enough time now, maybe if you take [Tyler]
Blackett out of the equation and [Paddy] McNair as he didn't play today,
but Jones has been there long enough now to grab that centre-half
position by the scruff of the neck, so has Smalling and Jonny Evans has
been on the bench.
"Unless United change the situation by buying
quality defenders, they are not going to challenge for Premier League
titles or Champions League.
"If they buy two quality defenders, then yes, I can maybe see them winning the Premier League next year."

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has ruled out a move for Manchester City's out-of-favour defender Matija Nastasic.
The
Serbian centre-back is down the pecking order with the champions and
has been mentioned as a potential Hammers target if Winston Reid leaves
Upton Park this month.
Nastasic, 21, is wanted by German club
Schalke and Allardyce - who enquired about him back in the summer - says
he expects Nastasic to leave the Premier League, if he departs the
Etihad.
"No I don't think Nastasic wants to stay in this country -
that is my opinion based on the talks about Nastasic I had last summer
before the window shut.
"The word was if he was going to leave Manchester City he wouldn't stay in this country."

Arsenal target Loic Perrin has admitted that he still doesn't know where his future lies.
The Saint Etienne captain last week revealed that the Gunners had already contacted him over a move, but were yet to talk to the Ligue 1 club.
And, speaking this weekend, he confessed that his immediate future hangs in the balance with Arsene Wenger still not having made a formal approach to Les Verts , and the north London club's interest in Winston Reid also piquing:
“Frankly I don’t know anything," Perrin said.
"There are always rumours, even though Arsenal have inquired and have contacted my agent.
“But Saint Etienne still haven’t been [contacted], and that’s the most important thing. Full stop.
“I’ve
always said that Saint Etienne is my club and that if I were to leave
it would be to take the next step. And when you talk about Arsenal,
you’re not talking about any old club.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche says the Clarets still have cash to spend after the £3million signing of Michael Keane last week.
Speaking
today Dyche, whose side are out of the relegation zone after a 2-1 win
over QPR at the weekend, declared that he still has some funds to
strengthen...but doesn't think he'll be able to sign Alexis Sanchez!
“There are a few different avenues that we’re looking into,” he said.
“Some have got a chance we think, some maybe not.
“There’s
a certain amount we can throw at it. We have got some money available
but you can imagine from what we spent in the summer, I’ll not be
signing Alexis Sanchez, let’s put it that way.”

Crystal Palace will this week ramp up their transfer activity as Alan Pardew looks to strengthen his side's survival push.
Three
points against Tottenham on Saturday evening jetted the Eagles up to
15th in the table, but Pardew is aware that the club remains in a
relegation battle and wants to bring in as many as four or five players.
A left-back and a striker are top priority positions, as they
were under Neil Warnock, but Pardew is also keen to add a powerful,
versatile midfielder to his ranks that can play through the middle or
out wide if needed. Jonjo Shelvey is a target but Swansea's asking price
is currently too high, as it is for centre-forward Bafetimbi Gomis.
The
former Lyon striker wants to fight any newcomer for a starting berth at
the Liberty Stadium, while Rickie Lambert's determination to make an
impact at Liverpool has also seemingly nixed any chance of him joining
the south London club.

Mario Balotelli's agent has played down talk of the misfit striker leaving Liverpool to return to Italy this month.
Reports in Italy linked Balotelli with a loan switch to Juventus ahead of a permanent £14million deal this summer.
However
his agent Mino Raiola rejected such talk and says the former Manchester
City hitman, who has not managed a single Premier League goal since
arriving at Anfield in August, should "remain calm and work hard" at
Liverpool.
Raiola told Calciomercato: "Balotelli is not doing
well, but must remain calm and work hard. Nobody questions his qualities
and I am not worried.
"Now you do not hear talk of his private life and this is already a big improvement.
"We
forget that he had an injury that kept him still for long and until
he's 100 per cent, we will not be able to judge. It's not easy to go
abroad and fit in a sports project, you need time."

With Juventus' Wesley Sneijder pursuit having come to nothing, the Bianconeri may be set to turn their attention to Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Juve
continued their title push with a 3-1 win at Napoli on Sunday night and
general manager Giuseppe Marotta admits that while negotiations for
Wesley Sneijder have reached stalemate, if an opportunity to sign
Mkhitaryan came about then Juve would be interested.
Marotta told
Sky Italia: "The January transfer window is dubbed the 'repair transfer
market' and we do not need to repair anything, so we will only use this
window to take advantage of any potential opportunity.
"We had really hoped [to sign] Sneijder, but we feel we don't want to complete any deal which is so financially significant.
"Mkhitaryan,
is a player who would work well within our project," he said. "Yes, he
is on our list, but at the moment he is just a hypothesis."

Lionel Messi insists he is staying at Barcelona and has hit out at "lies" linking him with a move to the Barclays Premier League.
Stories
have circulated in the Spanish press in recent weeks of Barca being in
crisis with claims that many players, including Messi, were unhappy with
coach Luis Enrique's tactics and coaching methods.
That led to
speculation that Messi's stellar career at the Nou Camp could be coming

potential bids for the Argentina international.
And now Messi has spoken out, criticising those he feels are out to unsettle the Catalan giants.
"I don't demand anything for me to stay because I have no intention of leaving anywhere," he told Barca TV.

Juventus have confirmed that they want to sign Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, despite his dreadful league form in England, report The Times.
it has been reported that a £14million move could be completed, although Balotelli could move on a loan basis at first.
The Times quote manager Massimiliano Allegri as saying: "We would like to recruit him, but we do not know if it is possible.
"Mario had a good season with me (at AC Milan).
"Unfortunately he's built up a character outside of the world of football and everyone talks about what he does off the pitch.
"All coaches love to lead the best players."
But
Juve general manager Giuseppe Marotta declared: "Balotelli is not the
player we are willing to buy, we will go forward with this group,
Balotelli is not what we are seeking."

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert hopes Carles Gil can solve his side's goal crisis but only has limited transfer cash to solve the problem.
Valencia attacking midfielder Gil, 22, is due in Birmingham today for talks over a five-year contract in a £3.2million transfer. Villa have only scored 11 Premier League goals in 21 games and were booed off in their 1-0 defeat at bottom club Leicester. Morning all
Good morning folks and welcome to another week in the January transfer window.
A
busy weekend of action has afforded managers another opportunity to see
where their sides' are going right, and where they need to improve this
month.
Manchester City already seem to have done so as they
pursue the title: Wilfried Bony's £30million move from Swansea offering
them added firepower.
Plenty of other clubs - either hoping to
push for the European places or to avoid relegation - are doing
likewise, while there are no managers happy to stand still, no matter
what they say.
So what will today bring? Well keep it here on Mirror Football and we'll very much keep you in the loop.
Let's go...
