Crocked: Wilshere could be out until March with his latest injury knock
Here are today's Gunners stories from the Mirror...
Mertesacker laments 'shocking' Gunners
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker said he had 'big regrets' over the Gunners' first half showing at Stoke on Saturday.
Arsene Wenger's side trailed 3-0 at the break and, despite a second half comeback, couldn't salvage anything from the Potteries.
The
World Cup winner told Arsenal's official website: “We nearly came back
from a shocking first half. We had to show some morale and some respect
to our travelling fans.
“At half-time we said to ourselves, ‘we’re
going to fight until the end no matter what happens’. That was the only
positive thing. We’re not normally like that, so it’s a big regret." In pictures: Stoke vs Arsenal VIEW GALLERY
Arsene Wenger met with abuse at train station
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was faced with a tirade of abuse as he boarded the train back to London following the Gunners' defeat in Staffordshire.
The
Frenchman has become under increasing pressure to leave his role in the
Emirates hotseat, and was caught on camera being told to "f*** off and
leave" by a section of the Arsenal support at Stoke railway station. The 65-year-old has
come in for regular criticism at various points in his 17-year Arsenal
career, particularly after failing to land a piece of silverware for
nine years from 2005-14.
Crouch: Potters spurred on by Arsenal clashes
Stoke striker Peter Crouch has said his team-mates and supporters alike at the Britannia find an extra gear for games against the Gunners.
Arsenal
have won just one of their eight visits to the Potteries since Stoke's
promotion to the Premier League, and Crouch admits they see it as a big
game.
“Everything that surrounds this game, you can see why there
are so many people here because it’s an important fixture,” said Crouch.

Fired up: Crouch celebrates his first minute opener
“The crowd help. There’s a bit of history, words have been exchanged.
“We
are trying to evolve, to play in the right manner. But there are a few
of the old people from before, who still have that determination and
desire to win. It’s a nice blend.
“I’ve been an away player here with Spurs, and Liverpool and I know it’s not a nice place to come."

is the latest in a long line of setbacks for the 22-year-old, who has
struggled to put a consistent run of games together so far in his
career.
Arsenal target James Milner set for new Man City contract
James
Milner is to be offered a new £90,000-a-week contract at the Etihad, to
the disappointment of Arsenal who were tracking the England star. Staying put? Milner is to be offered a new deal at the Etihad
The Daily Star reports that the deal is set to be on the
table by the end of the month for the 28-year-old who has been in
impressive form for Manuel Pellegrini's side this season.
There
was talk of a transfer away from Manchester for Milner who had a lack of
first-team opportunities last year, but he has since cemented his
position as one of the Chilean's key men.
Exeter whizz kid heading for the Emirates?
The
Daily Star are also reporting that Exeter starlet Ethan Ampadu is seto
join the North London outfit, despite interest from Manchester United.
The
14-year-old has set tongues wagging with his impressive displays in
Exeter's youth setup, and has already made his debut for the Welsh
Under-16 side, coming off the bench in their 1-0 victory over England.
Ampadu's father Kwame coaches at Arsenal's Hale End academy.
Should this be Arsene Wenger's last season as Arsenal manager?
