Up for the fight: Mignolet insists Liverpool are prepared for Tuesday's showdown
Simon Mignolet has insisted Liverpool have a winning mentality for the “big one” which will decide their season. The Reds keeper
knows tomorrow's Champions' League showdown against Basel is a make or
break contest that will not only decide his team's European fate, but
set the tone for three massive games to follow.
And despite another disappointing result at the weekend after a poor run of form from the Anfield club, Mignolet has roared on his team-mates with the insistence they haven't given a thought to anything else but triumph.
“Nobody
is thinking about not getting through. The only thing we are thinking
about is getting the result that we need. We are only thinking about
winning,” he said emphatically.
“We have to do the job in hand and
look at ourselves. We have to be ready for it. That is the job in hand
and the one we are focusing on.
"Everything else goes out of the
window. If we win on Tuesday, we are going in to the next round. That is
all that matters. We are all focused on it.

European nights are legendary at Anfield, and the Reds are hoping
tomorrow's game will write another chapter in the famous old stadium's
rich history.
And Mignolet knows the backing of the crowd can lift
his team and make them all heroes. Asked about the chance to write
another chapter in that famous history, he added:
“Let's hope that
we can do that. We have to recover from a game when we were going right
until the end. It is a big night and let's hope we can do that.”
For
Mignolet himself, the game is another chance to fight back from his own
poor start to the season, that has seen a series of mistakes undermine
his confidence.
The keeper though, has always remained calm in the
face of what many have tried to portray as a personal crisis, and he
insisted he will not panic, but work hard to continue the improvement in
form which has seen him collect two clean sheets in the last three
games.

“Is there anyone who can turn back time or is there anyone
who can forward time? The only thing you can do is your best every
single game,” he said.
“The game on Saturday is gone; we got a
clean sheet and seven points out of nine isn't too bad. Let's focus on
the next game. The only thing I can do is work hard and keep doing my
thing.
“I said a few weeks ago that I deal with the good
performances the same way as I do with the bad ones. I am my biggest
critic and I study my game with the goalkeeper coach.....”
